Catcliffe History

Catcliffe is a township 2 ½ miles south from Rotherham, on the river Rother. The area is 704 acres; rateable value, £3,432 17s.; and the population (1871) 336. There is a flint glass manufactory. The principal landowners are the trustees of Samuel Blunn esq. and Mrs. Rodgers. A school Board was formed on August 18th. 1875, consisting of five members, who erected a school in 1876 for 80 children, at a cost of £2,500.
