Irton History
IRTON is a township in the parish of and a quarter of a mile north-west from Seamer, 4 miles south-southwest from Scarborough. The works of the company by which Scarborough is chiefly supplied with water are in this village. The Earl of Londesborough K.C.V.O. in lord of the manor and principal landowner. The area is 1,280 acres; rateable value, £1,632; the population in 1911 was 128.
