Stillington Hall, the residence of Matthew Liddell esq. J.P. is a fine mansion, with well laid out grounds, standing in a delightful and well-wooded park of 100 acres. Leonard Jas. Tatham esq. of North Hill, Highgate, London, is lord of the manor, and Joseph H. Love esq. of Easingwold, and M. Liddell esq. are the principal landowners. The soil and subsoil are sandy and clayey. The chief crops are corn and potatoes, with excellent grazing land. The acreage is 2,157; rateable value, £2,921; the population in 1911 was 509.
