Wellingley History
Wellingley, with Stancill and Wilsick, form a township, in the parish of Tickhill, 2 miles north-by-west from Tickhill. Stancill and Wellingley were the property of the late John Jarratt esq. founder of Christ Church, Doncaster, but Wellingley is now the property of George Jarratt Jarratt esq. and stancill belongs to R. I. Streatfield esq. of Rossington Hall. Wilsick Hall is the seat of William Walker esq. J.P. The soil is sand and peat; subsoil, clay. The crops are turnips, seeds, barley, wheat and oats. The township contained 76 inhabitants in 1871, and about 1,200 acres of land, in four farms and a few scattered cottages; rateable value, £1,438.
