Melton History
MELTON is a township and extinct chapelry in the parish of Welton, 1 mile north-west from Ferriby station and 8 west from Hull. H. B. Harrison-Broadley esq. M.P., J.P. is lord of the manor and principal landowner. The soil is wold and clay; the subsoil is chalk and clay. The chief crops are wheat, barley and oats. The area is 794 acres of land, 1 of water, 432 of tidal water and 664 of foreshore; rateable value, £3,110; the population in 1911 was 148.
