Ousefleet History
Ousefleet Is a township and small village, in the parish of Whitgift, situated a little way inland from the south bank of the river Ouse, 7 miles east from Goole. Ousefleet Grange is a fine stone mansion, the property and residence of Robert Cornelius Empson esq. J.P. who is lord of the manor and principal landowner. The soil is a rich warp. The chief crops are potatoes and wheat. The area is 2,885 acres, of which 697 are water; rateable value, £3,185; population in 1871, 215.
