Rawcliffe History

RAWCLIFFE is a pleasant township in the parish of Clifton, miles north-west of York. Edward Grosvenor Tew esq. of Carleton Grange, Pontefract, is lord of the manor and the principal landowner. The acreage is 736; rateable value, £2,818; the population in 1911 was 360. The Lunatic Asylum stands partly in this township. The children of Rawcliffe attend Clifton & Skelton schools.
