From Where Does The Surname Originate? meaning and history
A female name. f. diminutive of Latin Drusus, a cognomen in use in the Livian gens, first assumed by the Livius who slew the Gaul Drausus. Livia Drusilla was the 2nd wife of Augustus, and another Drusilla was the d. of Drusus Germanicus and sister and mistress of Caligula. Herod Agrippa I probably called his d. Like most other New Testament names, Drusilla was taken into use in the 17th C, and has been used from time to time since, more often in the USA than in England.
