After his marriage with St. Ethelburga (see Audrey), he ‘zealously promoted the conversion of his subjects. He fell at Hatfield Chase, A. D. 633, fighting against Cadwallon of Wales and the Pagan tyrant of Mercia’ (Benedictines).
