M. Now rare, even among the Jews, it represents, in Hebrew, ‘the Lord is he.’ It has long been a colloquialism for a coachman, because Jehu, King of Israel, drove furiously’.
Je'-hew, he that is or exists. 1. The son of Jehoshaphat, and grandson of Nimshi, captain of the troops of Joram, the king of Israel: was appointed by God to reign over Israel, and to avenge the sins committed by the house of Ahab. 1 Kings xix. 16. 2.
