A female name. Hebrew ‘cassia’, the name of one of the dd. of Job (see also Jemima and Kerenhappuch). Used since the 17th C, especially in Evangelical circles; one of the Wesleys was named Keziah.
F. In Hebrew, ‘cassia’, it rested fittingly on the person of one of the three beauteous daughters of Job: the others, by the way, were Kerenhappuch (the name is obsolete) and Jemima (q. v.). Now, despite its beauty, it is rare.
A female name derived from Kezia, daughter of Job, in Hebrew קְצִיעָה, Kt’siya, signifying cassia, a bark similar to cinnamon. The Rev. A. Jones adds, ‘ i. e. equally as precious’ (as cassia).
