&c. (f.) Richenda, Richarda, Richenza are all from compounds of Old German ricja (mod German reich) ‘rule’, and are recorded very early. They have occasionally been used in England as f. forms of Richard (q.v.). In the 16th C the diminutive Richardyne is found. Other compounds of ricja are Richolda which is recorded in the 13th C, and Richoard which was fairly common in Devon in the 17th C. Richenda was used by the Gurneys in the 18th C.
