Romulus Forename Definition:

Never at all general among the English-speaking peoples, it owes its employment solely to the myth of Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome. The -ulus is the Latin diminutive suffix; the m., at that early date, was probably a euphonic convenience (though the German Ruhm, ‘fame,’ goes to disprove this); Ro- is the ancient Teutonic hruod, ‘fame,’ as in Robert, Roderick, Roger, Roland, etc.

Romulus Forename Meaning

From Where Does The Surname Originate? meaning and history

Or, to put it in another way, Romulus is the Latin equivalent of Frankish Latin Chrodomarus, Teutonic Hruodmar, which, literally ‘famed renown’, is but a reduplication of ‘fame’, i. e. of hruod.
