The Oxford Dictionary of Christian Names (1947) by E. G. Withycombe

Like Theodora, ‘divine gift,’ it is, though less directly, a f. of Theodore, q. v., its immediate counterpart being the obsolete Theodosius, ‘divinely given.’ It came to England largely because of the fame attached to the various Saints Theodosia.
