Rozel History

ROZEL is a fishing village in St. Martin civil parish in Rozel bay, miles north from St. Martin church. Rozel Manor chapel, erected in the 12th century, is an edifice of stone in the Gothic style, and consists of a single rectangular nave with a roof originally of wood. Rozel Manor House is a rectangular mansion in the Gothic style, with a tower, built in 1760. The house stands in well-wooded and extensive pleasure grounds, and affords extensive views, including the coast of Normandy. The ruins of the old Manor house remain, and close by is an ancient dovecote. The present owner is R. R. Lempriere esq. seigneur of the Fief Haubert and Viscount of Jersey. Here are barracks, at present unoccupied.
