Historical Description

The parish of Kilmany lies in a valley watered by the river Moutry; it is six miles long, and four broad, and contains 174 houses and 787 inhabitants, viz. 353 males, and 434 females : of whom 156 were returned as being employed in agriculture, and 65 in trade and manufacture. The want of sufficient planting is much felt here, though the river flowing glently through it, fertilizes the fields, and beautifies the scenery. The village is pleasantly situated on a small eminence, five miles from Cupar.
