Proceeds this surname of a French knight named Eunado of Aquitaine which, being part of Charlemagne's army, came to Spain to fight the Moors, and that, along with other comrades in arms, settled in Sarafaiz valley of Navarra (which it was renamed by corruption of the name of Salazar valley), defending the land of the Moors and performing valorous exploits. Said French rider had two sons, who called the first-born Gaston, and the second, Galindo, and they took the name of the Valley of Salazar, but had to withdraw to Castile, due to persecution that moved them the kings of Navarre .In Castile they settled or settled a small place near the village of Medina de Pomar, which they named Salazar. Galindo was son Martim Galindes and this was the son Gonzalo Martinez.
