Adpaikar is a goan surname. Adpai is a small village near the banks of a river in Durbhat area, Ponda in the state of Goa. The people whose origins are from this village are called Adpaikar(s). Though Adpaikar surname is very rare and scattered, it has all its root to Adpai.
This used to be a densely populated village until the plague forced many to leave the village and the neighbouring places like Agapur and Talauli. The Portuguese onslaught further caused problems to this area especially after the weakened support of Marathas. Due to this, people of Adpai went to settle as far as Gokarna.
Now Adpai is a flourishing village with narrow but good roads, ferry boat port, school, temples and churches. Some building complexes are also built.
Goan MP Shripad Naik and Raamprasaad Adpaikar (Goan filmmaker) are some of the famous people who have their origins to this village.
