User-submitted Reference

Based on the Basque language. The name most distinctively derives from (h)atizó, which means 'rock', 'cliff' etc. The second part, buru (with the -a suffix, which is the article) together means 'top', 'tip', 'peak' or in the latest form of the word burua, which is the 'head'. So together would mean the top of the cliff, or in a less literal meaning could be 'hard head', which in Spanish translates as cabeza dura, of which the figurative meaning is a 'stubborn person'.
