There is a long history behind the name. In around 1850, Kwukoma from Ogbe Odogwu, Ogwashi-uku in Aniocha South LGA, Delta State, Nigeria, named his first son Ajidue. By the time the British missionaries arrived in Ogwashi-uku, one of the 2nd-generation sons was baptized Joseph and appended the father's name Ajiduah as a surname. Joseph was the first to receive a proper British education.
