As the south of Jordan is an extension of the Arabian desert, stories tell that the family kept on moving up north looking for a place with water and fertile land, so they moved to Hebron in Palestine and then the majority moved to Aydoun (or Dion one of the Decapolis cities during the Roman classical period), and finally settled around that area in a governate now called Al-Sarih.
As for the reason of calling them Al Ajlouni, as it is mentioned in the book of Mo'jam Al Ashaer Al Ordonia (The Lexicon of the Jordanian clans) by Dr. Abdul Raouf Rawabdeh, that one of their ancestors was studying in Egypt during the Ottoman era and they heard he was coming from the city of Ajloun so they gave him that title of Ajlouni, referring to his city. The family are also connected to The Tabari clan in Tiberias by marriage and the Alliance from a long time ago.
- Aktham_tIt is also worth mentioning that as there were no borders between Jordan and Syria (then the so called Levant), this family and many others have kept moving and emigrating to the north of the Levant as it has a more stable climate and fertile soil, and that is also why there is a part of the family in Syria too (more specifically in Dara'a the closest city on the north of the Jordanian borders).
