Al Selwi is a last name given to the descendants of the district area of "Al Selw" that is located in the south-eastern part of Tai'zz Governrate in the Republic of Yemen. This population of this district as of 2004 was 5,000. Agriculture is the main activity of inhabitants of this area. They mostly grow grain corps, nuts, vegetables, an various types of fruits. They also involve in trading activities as another source of income.The area has recently undergone several development projects including the main asphalt road and electricity project which has finally covered all parts as of 2014. These services and many others were hindered as a result of the recent war in the country. Al Selw has a relatively young population. Many of its youth are college students and skilled workers. After finishing high school, most of these youth move to the city to further their studies or find suitable job which can help them support their families back at home. This area is still young and it's full of ambitions and hopes.
