As for the name Momani, many documents show that it was derived and changed over the years from the name, Mo'amen, which is Arabic for believer or the true believer and stories tell that it was a name given to the family origin Sheikh Ali al-Junaidi.

They claim to be descendants of Al Hussain bin Ali bin Abi Taleb (Prophet's Mohammad grandson) and they have a certificate dated in 1329 Islamic Year (1911 AD) which they say has been copied from the original one dated in the Islamic Year 380 (990 AD) to prove that and it still protected with Junaid bin Sheikh Mohammed Al-Junaidi in Homs in Syria.

Their Lineage goes back to Ali bin Taleb as follow; Ali Sayeh (whom Al Momani family came from) Bin Qasim Al-Junaidi bin Al Sayyed Al-Junaidi Al-Baghdadi bin Mohammed Al-Awwaad bin Musa al-Shafie bin Ibrahim Ali Murtada bin Musa al-Kadhim bin Ja'far Al-Sadik bin Muhammad al-Baqir bin Zaid al-Abidine Ben Al Hussein bin Ali bin Abi Talib.
