Some Amedofus are from Woe near Keta in the Volta region of Ghana. Our grandfather, Amedofu is a descendant of Amesimeku Atorgolow, head of the "Like" clan of Anlo. His father was Dedzoh from Atorkor, a town near Anloga. It was revealed that Amedofu's mother bore many children but they all died. But when a young boy was born again the parents gave him this name Amedofu, so as to prevent the devil from killing him. Literally, the name means "struggling man". It is a name given to shame the devil. Amedofu's father actually hailed from Atorkokor and his mother hailed from Woe. He lived with his mother at Woe. Amedofu gave birth to Nuviadenu, Amega, Atsu kple Etse, Ameyo and Enunuwole. Their descendants are all Woe citizens.
