In Melnikov-Pechersky's novel 'On the Mountains,' one of the characters is told: 'To listen to you, there's no need for fairy tales. Noble bahari.' However, this nickname could also be given to a healer, an expert in spells for various diseases.
In 'Onomasticon S.B. Veselovsky is mentioned: Grigory Bakhar, 1564, Novgorod; Feofan Bakharev, peasant, 1495, Novgorod; Restless Andreevich Bakhorev, 1551, Suzdal.
However, the suffix -ovskiy indicates that, most likely, this surname belonged to one of the noble families. Moreover, there was a princely family of the Bakharovskys in Poland. In this case, the surname could also be derived from the Polish bachor - 'child, heir, offspring.'
