BALMOSSIE: From the lands of the same name in the parish of Monifieth in Angus. Alan de Belmosse had a charter from Robert I of some lands in Dundee and a third part of Craigie (RMS., I, App. II, 457), and as Alan de Balmossy he appears as witness to an obligation by John de Dunde in 1321 (HP., II, p. 225). In 1378 the third part of the lands of Craghy, formerly in the possession of Walter de Balmossy were granted to Patrick de Inverpeffre (RMS., I, 655,687).
