BALRONY: Perhaps from Balrownie near Crathes, Aberdeenshire. Stephen de Balrony was auditor of accounts of Aberdeen in 1433 (SCM., V, p. 41). Robert de Balrony was admitted burgess of Aberdeen in 1439 and Richard de Balrony the same in 1457 (NSCM., I, p. 5, 15). Stephen of Balrony had a charter of a Templar land in the barony of Badfothal in 1450 (Banchory-Devenick, p. 166).
