Banavliker is a Goan surname. Benaulim (Banauli) is a village near the banks of a Arabian Sea, Salcet in the state of Goa. The people, whose origins are from this village, are called banavlikar(s). Though Banavlika surname is very rare and scattered, it has all its root to Banauli.

Legend has it that this is the place where an arrow shot by Lord Parshuram, sixth incarnation of Vishnu landed. The arrow shifted back the hills hence forming the konkan. The place was hence called banavli (ban means 'arrow') and later distorted to Benaulim by Portuguese.
