The secular name Belyay in ancient times was very common. It could indicate a light complexion, hair, or have the meaning 'whitewashed,' that is, free from taxes. Among the related 'white' surnames are: Belov, Belyshev, Belyakov, Belyankin, Belyanchikov. However, it should be remembered that a white man was also called a tidy person, even a black-haired one, and a white moth is both a moth and a lupus mushroom. In addition, Belyakov is, perhaps, the same as Zaitsev - nicknamed the 'winter' hare-hare. The Belyaevs are a noble family, descending from Roman Afanasyevich Belyaev, a verst estate in 1633. Belyaev Alexander Romanovich (1884-1942) - a wonderful science fiction writer, author of the novels Amphibian Man, The Head of Professor Dowell, Star of the CEC and others.
