James Beny or Bynne was prebendary of Crudane, 1321 (REA., I, p. 47). Adam de Benyn chosen provost of Aberdeen and Simon de Benyn elected bailie, 1399 (Guildry, p. 184). William Bynne (entered under Benyng in index), bailie of Aberdeen, 1498 (REA., 1, p. 343). Alexander Benne, "dekin of the wobstaris" in Stirling, 1522 (SBR., p. 16).
