The Cornish place names Higher and Lower Bodinnar are located in Newbridge, to the north of Sancreed, in West Penwith.

The name Berdinner is first recorded in the parish records of Mawgan in Meneage, in Cornwall's Lizard peninsula, in the 1700s. Early records of the name show it was used interchangably with other spellings (including Bodinnar), of which there are several variations.
