From the town of Beverley in East Riding of Yorkshire. Nichols de Reverie and Thomas de Beverle, both of Berwick, rendered homage, 1291 (RR.). A horse was purchased from Nicholaus de Beverlaco in 1312 (Bain, III, p. 421). Thomas Beverley of Scotland had letters of protection on going abroad in the King of England's service, 1374 (Bain, IV, 217). Thomas Beverley, esquire of Scotland, had a safe conduct into England in 1393, and in 1395 there is an entry of payment to Thomas Beverlee, esquire of Scotland (ibid., 458,468). Alexander Bevirla admitted burgess of Aberdeen, 1485 (NSCM., I, p. 31). Robert Bevyrlay was juror on an inquisition apud Rane, 1418 (REA., I, p. 216). William Reaverlay, trade burgess of Aberdeen, 1640 (ROA., I, p. 232). George Beverly was bailie of Inverury, 1747 (Aberdeen CR.), Alexander Beverley, shoemaker in Banchory-Devenick, died in 1829, and Alexander M. Beverley of Turriff was killed in the first Great War (Turriff). Baverlay 1689.
