John de Bigholme, witness in Edinburgh in 1426 (Egidii, p. 49) may be John Bygholme, dean of guild in Edinburgh in 1428 (RMS., II, 116), and the John Bygholme, Scottish merchant, who had a safe conduct into England in 1446 (Bain, IV, 1187). Thomas of Bigholme, Scottish merchant, who had a safe conduct into England in 1453 and 1464 (ibid., IV, 1253, 1347), is perhaps Thomas of Bigholme who was elected magistrate of Edinburgh in 1456 (EBR., I, p. 15). Patric Bigholme had a special respite and protection in 1504 (Trials, I, p. 43), Edward Bigholme held a tenement in Edinburgh in 1554 (Laing, 617), and caution was found for David Biggum in Inverkeithing in 1587 (RPC., IV, p. 170). William Bigholme was heir of Richard Bigholme in Alves in 1622 (Inquis., 1048), Adam Bigholme was witness in Glengirk in 1634 (RPC., 2. ser. V, p. 647), Hector Bigholme is recorded in Auchinbaird of Sauchie, 1640 (Stirling), and Edward Bigholme was admitted schoolmaster of Auchterdirran 1641 (PBK., p. 214).
