"The lands of Blaklaw" in the barony of Linton are mentioned in 1476 (ALA.), and there is a Blaklaw "within the parochin and regality of Dumfermling," 1654 (Fife Retours). The seal of Catherine Blaklaw, wife of Robert Strachan. is appended to a document of 1573 (Macdonald, 178). A pension was paid to Janet Blacklaw in Edinburgh, 1733 (Guildry, p. 145).
