It is known that early descendants of the Finnish Wirmalia Family were members of the Finnish Calvery Regiments as part of the Swedish Military, and probably had their armor polished by a blanckman. Descendants bearing the name Blanckman emigrated to the Netherlands in the late 1500s, so the name there is of Finnish-Swedish origin, not Dutch. There was no Jewish component to this family.
