Gille filius Boed was one of the witnesses to Earl David's Inquisitio concerning the lands of the church of Glasgow a. 1124 (REG., p. 5), and a Gilbert filius Boet is mentioned c. 1155—57 in a charter by Henry 11 of England as the former owner of the barony of GilIsland in Cumberland (Sc. Ant., XVII, p. 111)."In the Foundation Charter of Lanercost (IIlus. Doc., XXIII, Wetheral Priory, p. 419), and in a confirmation by Pope Alexander m in 1181 certain lands are described 'per has divisas quas Gille filius Bueth illam melius et plenius in vita sua tenuit,' and, again, 'Dedi autem eis omnem corticem de merremio meo proprio. in boscis meis infra baroniam meam de terra quae fuit Gille filius Bueth'" (Lotone, p. 304). Gylis filius Buht apud Drumedler was one of the witnesses to the Diuise de Stobbo, c. 1190 (REG., p. 89).
