The ship of Walter de La Bothe, merchant of Aberdene, was plundered at sea by the English near Yarmouth in 1273 (Bain, II, 9), and Cristiane "atte bothe" of Berewyk rendered homage in 1296 (ibid., p. 208) Andreas de Botha witnessed a Glassarie charter in Dundee in 1321 (HP., II, p. 225), and Nicholas de Botha was proprietor of a land in Dundee in 1381 (RMS., I, 691). William de Botha witnessed a gift of lands to the Hospital of Soltre, c. 1350—66 (Soltre, p. 32).
