Foreign immigration has swelled the number of our Bucketts. &c. The Visitation of London (1633-5), has 'Michaell Bucket borne in the dominions under the Emperor nigh Hedleborow.' His son was 'Michaell Bucket of London, made a free denison anno 14 Elizabeth.' His son Rowland Buckett was a London alderman, 1634. The origin of the surname remains the same.
Probably from Bouquetot, near Pont-Audemer in Normandy. It is now scarcely known except by its corruption Buekett.
