AGAA., I, p. 169). Adam Boyman and Robert Boyman were burgesses of Irvine 1418 (Irvine, I, p. 127), Alan Boyman, bailie of Ayr, 1471 (Friars Ayr, p. 54), and John Boyman, witness in Ayr, 1494 (Laing, 220). George Boyman and Alan Boyman were voters in the parish of Cwilton (Coylton), 1513 (Ros, 52), and John Boyman held land in Leith, 1565 (ER., XIX p. 285). Lower says "a known corruption of Bowman.".
