John Branche in Wilkeistoun, parish of St. Andrews, 1593, and two more of the name are recorded (St. Andrews). The name occurs in Edinburgh from 1614 onwards as Bransh, Brainch, Brench, Brenche, and Bransche (Edinb. Marr.), and possibly Branische found there in 1599 is but another spelling of the name.
