Walter Bratoun appears in Glenbervie, 1558 (Laing, 690), Andro Brattoun was reidare at Kirkbeane, Dumfriesshire, 1574 (RMR.), and Jennet Bratton and Robert Bratton were examined for the Test in Tinwald, 1685 (RPC., 3. ser. XI, p. 433). Robert Bratton appears in Dallsible, 1680, and two more of the name are in the same record (Dumfries).
