BRESSACK: A form of Bressock, which see. Several individuals whose names appear in the Rental book of Cupar-Angus as Brisauch, Brisaucht, Bresaucht, Briseacht, Brysaucht, Brischo (1508), Brescho, Bresok (1514), Brysauch, Breschock (1508), and Brasauch were tenants of the Abbey of Cupar-Angus in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Breassauch was the form of the name used by a family or families named Lyon, who changed their name back again to Lyon in July 1731 (Aberdeen Journal Notes and queries, IV, p. 242). John Bressak was portioner of Inverarity, 1779 (Brechin).
