Perhaps from the parish of the name in the North Riding of Yorkshire which gave name to a family in the twelfth century (Guppy). Anketin de Bulemer or Bulmere was one of the witnesses to the letter of David I respecting the consecration of Robert, bishop of St. Andrews, at York, and also to the charter by Thurstin, archbishop of York, on the same subject in 1128 (Haddon and Stubbs, Councils and ecclesiastical documents, II. pt. I, p. 215). Johannes de Bulom (= Bulomer) witnessed a gift to the church of Glasgow, c. 1260 (REG., p. 177).
