Cabada Surname Meaning
User-submitted Reference
The surename Cabada is a variant of de la Cabada and ultimately from de la Cavada. This name was first borne by migrants in the province of Pontevedra, a province in the state of Galicia in North-west Spain. In turn de la Cabada originated from migrants from Santander, a major coastal city in the Northern state of Cantabria in Spain. De la Cavada, the origin of Cabada, original comes from the city of La Cavada, a small village just south of Santander. This small village is situated between a river (Rio Miera) and a stream (arroyo de Revilla) and a T-Intersection of two main Highways. The English translation of La Cavada is 'the concave' or 'dug' or 'ditch', which probably comes from the geographical fact that La Cavada is situated between three hills.
