From Where Does The Surname Originate? meaning and history

'Julius Cesar, phisitian' to Queen Elizabeth, was a Venetian by birth. His son, Sir Julius Cesar, was Master of the Robes to James I and Charles I, and lived at Hackney, and the family ramified somewhat strongly.
'Julius Ceser Delamare, vel Seysar Delamare, docter and phisitian to Q. Elizabeth': Visit. Herts, 1572-1634.
'At Ashton-under-Line, after a lingering Illness, aged 17 months, Julias Caesar Thompson. This was the child brought into the world by the Caesarean operation at the Manchester lying-in hospital': Gent. Mag. 1800.
1581-2. Married — Julius Caesar and Dorcas Lusher: Marriage Lic. (London).
1705. Buried — Ann, d. John James Caesar: St Antholin (London).
1758. Married — Robert Chester and Harriet Caesar: St. George, Hanover Square.
The celebrated Sir Julius Caesar, master of the rolls, temp. James I., was son of one of Queen Elizabeth's physicians, who according to Fuller's Worthies, (ii. 326) was descended from the ancient family of the Dalmarii in Italy. In the epitaph on Sir Julius Caesar, written by himself, and formerly existing at Great St. Helen's, in London, he is styled "Julius Dalmare, alias Ciesar." But according to a more recent authority the original family name was Adelmare. Peter Maria Adelmare of Treviso, near Venice, L.L.D., had a son, Caesar Adelmare, M.D., who settled in England in 1550. This gentleman had several sons, one of whom received the baptismal name of Julius; this was the celebrated Sir Julius, who adopted his father's praenomen as a fixed surname for his family. Lodge's Life of Sir Julius Caesar. The name still exists in the county of Surrey, principally in humble life. See anecdotes in English Surn., vol. i., page 209. A correspondent at Godalming writes: "We have here more than one Julius Caesar; in fact, we have twelve Caesars, all of one family. Julius Caesar, the younger, is a noted cricketer, and one of the Eleven of All England."
Cæsar: In the registers of Croydon, Surrey, are found the names of Susanna Cæsar, daughter of John and Rebecca Cæsar, born in 1695, and of John Cæsar, vicar of the parish, who was buried in 1719. There were also other Cæsars at Waddon in this parish early last century (Nic.). Probably the Cæsars of Surrey were originally connected with the distinguished knightly family of that name of Benington, Herts, in the 17th and 18th centuries. The Benington Cæsars, originally named Adelmar, after their ancestor the Count of Genoa, in the 9th century, subsequently adopted the name of the mother of their Italian ancestor, a daughter of the Duke de Cesarini (Salmon's "Herts.").
