CARMAIG: John Carmag (Carmage, or Karmag), tenant in Adhory, 1464—1476 (Cupar-Angus, I, p. 140, etc.). Alexander Caremaig was sheriff of Fife, 1520 (SCBF., p. 174), and part of the lands of Kinclune were leased to Thomas Carmage and his wife, 1526 (RAA., 11,624). Grissell Carmaig or Carmok is recorded in Brodmuir, 1610 (Brechin), John Carmok in Broklhoss, parish of Cortachy, 1637 (ibid.), and George Carmag in Cowie, 1692 (Inquis., 72, 82). Kermag and Kermaig 1525, Kermage 1517.
