CARNBEE: From Carnbee near Pittenweem, Fife. Ricardus de Karnebehyn witnessed gift of lands of Blarkerocch to the church of S. Andrew in first half of thirteenth century (RPSA., p. 277). John Carnbee was admitted burgess of Aberdeen, 1411 (NSCM., I, p. 4), and payment was made in 1528 to "ane honest man callit Stene of Carinbe dowlland in Lowdeane" (SBR., p. 32). The name appears as Carnebe (1553) and Carnebie (1568) in the Glasgow Protocol books.
