Mariota, wife of Nigel de Karrik, daughter of quondam Robert de Rosiue (Rosryth in Fife) sold a third part of the lands of Maisterton to the monks of Newbattle, 1320 (Neubotle, p. 41) Her son Robert is mentioned in same charter, and in the following one describes himself as Robertus Nigelli de Karrik (ibid., p. 43). John of Canyk, secretary of David II was appointed one of his envoys to the king of England, 1360 (Bain, IV, 59), and may be John de Carrik, canon of Glasgow, 1372 (Irvine, I, p. 12). Thomas of Carrie, bailie of Arne, 1429 (Ayr, p. 83). Thomas Carrig to be cautioner for Dame Margaret Howme, 1554 (CMN., 69), and in same year a tenement was granted in feu farm to Beatrix Carrik in Glasgow (Protocols, I). William Carrick in Armoir, parish of Kippen, 1606 (Dunblane), and Agnes Carrick in Unthank, parish of Coulter, 1665 (Lanark CR.). Robert Carrick, banker in Glasgow, c, 1820.
