From the lands of Carrington in East Lothian. Wautier de Keringtone, parson of the church of Dunnotre, rendered homage in 1296 (Bain, II, p. 214). William Keringtoun appears in 1506 as "unus occupatorum carbofodinarum de Gilmertoun" (Soltre, p. 78), and George Keringtoun was retoured heir of Andrew Keringtoun in Nungait, his father, in 1602 (Retours, Haddington, 18). Cristian Keringtoune alias Likkit in Prestonpans was accused of witchcraft, 1590 (Trials, I, p. 246).
