The name of Caswell only occurs in my list for Lincolnshire in the form of Casswell. During the 17th and 18th centuries, however, Caswell or Caswall was a very notable name in Leominster in this county: this Leominster family supplied several bailiffs or mayors to the town as well as representatives in Parliament: Sir George Caswall, who represented this town in 1720, lost his estates through the South Sea Scheme (T.). Caswell is the name of a Somerset tithing and of a Dorset hamlet.
